Oriheal Petoxicam Meloxicam COX-2 Selective NSAID Tablet for Dogs & Cats

Oriheal Petoxicam is a veterinary prescription tablet containing Meloxicam IP (COX-2 selective non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug / NSAID), manufactured by Oriheal Lifesciences. Available in two strengths (2.5mg and 5mg) for weight-based dosing. Meloxicam preferentially inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), reducing prostaglandin-mediated pain, inflammation, and fever. Petoxicam is indicated for pain and inflammation management in acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions, arthritis, and perioperative pain in dogs and cats.

Mechanism of Action

• Meloxicam preferentially inhibits the COX-2 isoenzyme — reduces synthesis of pro-inflammatory prostaglandins (PGE2) and thromboxanes at sites of inflammation
• COX-2 selectivity — relative sparing of COX-1 reduces disruption of gastroprotective prostaglandins compared to non-selective NSAIDs, lowering GI side effect risk at therapeutic doses

• Do not use concurrently with corticosteroids or other NSAIDs — significantly increased risk of GI ulceration and renal toxicity

• Do not use in dehydrated, hypovolaemic, or hypotensive animals — NSAIDs reduce renal prostaglandin synthesis and may precipitate acute kidney injury
