Prescription Required — For veterinary use only. Suitable for dogs only. Administer strictly under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian.
Check the strength carefully before dosing. This tablet contains 16mg of oclacitinib maleate, equivalent to 10mg of oclacitinib base. Reference products are labelled by base strength, so a prescription written for "oclacitinib 16mg" is not the same tablet as this one — confirm with your veterinarian which figure the prescription refers to before giving it. Oclacitinib suppresses part of the immune system. Do not use in dogs with a serious infection, and be aware it can allow existing infections to worsen or mask the signs of one: report any new lump, wart-like growth, skin infection, worsening mange, cough, or lethargy to your veterinarian promptly. Not for use in cats, in dogs under 12 months of age, or in dogs under 3kg. Not recommended alongside ciclosporin or other immunosuppressants without specific veterinary guidance, and discuss timing around vaccination. The twice-daily phase is limited to 14 days — staying on twice-daily dosing beyond that increases risk, so step down to once daily exactly as prescribed. Expect periodic blood tests on long-term therapy. This controls the itch, it does not cure the allergy, and itch that returns after stopping is expected rather than a treatment failure. Persistent itching should still be investigated for fleas, mites, food allergy, and secondary skin infection. Consult your veterinarian before use in pregnant, lactating, or breeding dogs. Keep out of reach of children; store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
OriHeal Pet Atopi Clear 16 Oclacitinib Maleate 16mg Tablets for Dogs
OriHeal Pet Atopi Clear 16 is a veterinary prescription tablet containing Oclacitinib Maleate 16mg, a selective Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitor, manufactured by OriHeal. Indicated for the control of pruritus (itching) associated with allergic dermatitis and the control of atopic dermatitis in dogs. Oclacitinib selectively inhibits JAK1-dependent cytokine signalling pathways (including IL-31, IL-4, and IL-13) involved in the itch-allergy cascade, providing rapid and effective relief from allergic itch and skin inflammation. What makes this class different from steroids is precision: rather than damping the whole immune response, it blocks the specific signal, IL-31, that the nervous system reads as itch, which is why relief often arrives within hours while avoiding the thirst, hunger, and long-term burden of corticosteroids. Supplied in strips of 10 tablets, in 1 strip and 3 strip packs.
Composition (per tablet)
-
Oclacitinib Maleate — 16mg, equivalent to oclacitinib 10mg — selective JAK1 inhibitor / anti-pruritic / anti-inflammatory
Therapeutic Class
- Veterinary selective Janus kinase inhibitor (JAKi) — anti-pruritic and anti-inflammatory prescription tablet for dogs
Mechanism of Action
- Allergic itch is driven by cytokines signalling through Janus kinase enzymes inside the cell, chief among them IL-31, the cytokine that directly triggers the sensation of itch.
- Oclacitinib selectively inhibits JAK1, interrupting IL-31, IL-4, and IL-13 signalling before the itch message reaches the nervous system.
- Breaking the itch-scratch cycle early prevents the self-trauma, skin barrier damage, and secondary bacterial and yeast infection that follow chronic scratching.
- Because the action is targeted rather than broadly immunosuppressive, relief is fast, but the underlying allergy remains and needs managing.
Key Benefits
- Rapid onset of itch relief — clinical response typically within hours of first dose via JAK1/IL-31 pathway inhibition
- Controls atopic dermatitis and environmental allergen-associated skin inflammation in dogs
- Effective for food allergy-associated pruritus as adjunct to dietary management
- Selective JAK1 inhibition — targeted mechanism with a well-characterised veterinary safety profile
- Avoids the thirst, hunger, and weight gain associated with corticosteroid therapy
- Oral tablet format — can be given with or without food
Indications
