Vivaldis Robenatail 20mg is a veterinary prescription NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) tablet for cats, containing Robenacoxib — a highly selective COX-2 inhibitor developed specifically for veterinary use. Robenatail is indicated for the treatment of acute pain, inflammation, and fever associated with musculoskeletal disorders, orthopaedic conditions, and soft tissue injuries in cats. Robenacoxib has a unique pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic profile that distinguishes it from older veterinary NSAIDs: its high COX-2 selectivity and preferential tissue distribution (high concentration at inflammatory exudate sites, rapid clearance from plasma/blood) provide effective anti-inflammatory analgesia with a reduced risk of COX-1-mediated gastric and renal adverse effects compared to non-selective NSAIDs.

Mechanism of Action

• COX-2 selective inhibition: Robenacoxib is a coxib-class NSAID that selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) while sparing cyclooxygenase-1 (COX-1); COX-2 is the inducible isoform upregulated at sites of tissue injury, inflammation, and tumour by pro-inflammatory cytokines (IL-1β, TNF-α, LPS); COX-2 converts arachidonic acid to prostaglandin H2 (PGH2), which is then converted by downstream synthases to prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), PGI2 (prostacyclin), and thromboxane A2 at inflammatory sites; PGE2 sensitises nociceptors (TRPV1, Nav1.8 channels on C-fibres and Aδ-fibres) to bradykinin, substance P, and histamine, causing peripheral sensitisation and inflammatory pain; PGE2 acts on the hypothalamic thermoregulatory centre (via EP3 receptors on preoptic area neurons) to raise the temperature set point, producing fever; Robenacoxib blockade of COX-2 reduces PGE2 synthesis at inflammatory sites → analgesia and antipyresis

Indications

• Acute musculoskeletal pain and inflammation in cats
• Post-operative pain and inflammation following soft tissue surgery in cats
• Post-operative pain and inflammation following orthopaedic surgery in cats
• Fever (pyrexia) associated with acute inflammatory conditions in cats
• Acute synovitis and arthralgia in cats
• Traumatic soft tissue injuries (sprains, strains, contusions) in cats

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dose: 1mg/kg body weight orally once daily for up to 3 days (acute pain and inflammation)
• Administer on an empty stomach or with a small amount of food (food delays but does not markedly reduce absorption)
• Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration without veterinary guidance
• Prescription required — administer strictly as directed by a veterinarian

Contraindications & Safety

• Do not use in dogs — Robenatail 20mg tablets are formulated for cats only
• Do not use in cats with known hypersensitivity to Robenacoxib or other NSAIDs
• Do not use in cats with gastrointestinal ulceration, haemorrhage, or pre-existing GI disease
• Do not use in cats with renal insufficiency, hepatic impairment, or cardiac failure
• Do not use in cats receiving concurrent NSAID, corticosteroid, or nephrotoxic drug therapy
• Do not use in pregnant, lactating, or breeding cats
• Use with caution in dehydrated, hypovolaemic, or hypotensive cats
• Monitor renal function in cats on extended therapy
