Vivaldis Robenatail 6mg is a veterinary prescription NSAID tablet for cats, containing Robenacoxib 6mg — a highly selective COX-2 inhibitor developed specifically for feline use. The 6mg strength is indicated for smaller cats and for dose titration as directed by a veterinarian. Robenatail 6mg is used for the treatment of acute pain, inflammation, and fever associated with musculoskeletal disorders, soft tissue injuries, and post-operative recovery in cats. Robenacoxib’s tissue-preferential pharmacokinetics — high inflammatory exudate concentration with rapid plasma clearance — provide effective targeted analgesia with reduced systemic NSAID exposure compared to non-selective NSAIDs.

Mechanism of Action

• COX-2 selective inhibition: Robenacoxib selectively inhibits cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2), the inducible isoform upregulated at sites of tissue injury and inflammation, while sparing COX-1 (the constitutive isoform responsible for gastric mucosal protection, renal autoregulation, and platelet aggregation); COX-2 converts arachidonic acid to PGH2, which is converted to PGE2 at inflammatory sites; PGE2 sensitises peripheral nociceptors and acts on the hypothalamic thermoregulatory centre to produce fever; Robenacoxib blockade of COX-2 reduces PGE2 synthesis → analgesia and antipyresis with a reduced risk of COX-1-mediated GI and renal adverse effects
• Tissue-preferential pharmacokinetics: Robenacoxib distributes preferentially into inflammatory exudate with a prolonged exudate half-life (≈4 hours in cats) relative to plasma half-life (≈1–2 hours); effective anti-inflammatory drug levels are maintained at inflamed tissue sites longer than in systemic circulation, supporting once-daily dosing at 1mg/kg and contributing to the short systemic exposure and safety profile

Indications

• Acute musculoskeletal pain and inflammation in cats
• Post-operative pain and inflammation following soft tissue or orthopaedic surgery in cats
• Fever (pyrexia) associated with acute inflammatory conditions in cats
• Acute synovitis, arthralgia, and traumatic soft tissue injuries in cats

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dose: 1mg/kg body weight orally once daily for up to 3 days
• Strip of 10 tablets
• Administer on an empty stomach or with a small amount of food
• Prescription required — administer strictly as directed by a veterinarian

Contraindications & Safety

• Do not use in dogs — for cats only
• Do not use in cats with GI ulceration, renal insufficiency, hepatic impairment, or cardiac failure
• Do not use concurrently with other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, or nephrotoxic drugs
• Do not use in pregnant, lactating, or breeding cats
• Ensure fresh drinking water is always available during treatment
• Monitor renal function in cats on extended or repeated therapy
