Oriheal Zemazol LCZ Luliconazole Veterinary Antifungal Cream for Dogs & Cats (10g)
Oriheal Zemazol LCZ is a veterinary prescription topical antifungal cream containing Luliconazole, a next-generation imidazole antifungal agent manufactured by Oriheal Lifesciences. Luliconazole demonstrates potent fungicidal activity against dermatophytes (Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, Microsporum canis — ringworm) and Malassezia pachydermatis (yeast), with superior minimum inhibitory concentrations (MICs) compared to older imidazoles such as Miconazole and Clotrimazole. Indicated for the topical treatment of dermatophytosis (ringworm), Malassezia skin infection, and other superficial fungal skin infections in dogs and cats. Confirm active concentration (%) from product label.
Composition (per gram — confirm from product label)
-
Luliconazole: Next-generation imidazole antifungal — concentration per gram; confirm from physical Oriheal Zemazol LCZ product label
- Cream base and excipients — confirm from label
Mechanism of Action
- Luliconazole inhibits fungal cytochrome P450-dependent 14α-sterol demethylase (CYP51), blocking ergosterol biosynthesis and disrupting fungal cell membrane integrity — resulting in fungicidal activity
- Demonstrates superior binding affinity to fungal CYP51 compared to Miconazole and Clotrimazole, enabling fungicidal activity at lower concentrations and shorter contact times
- Active against dermatophytes (Trichophyton mentagrophytes, T. rubrum, Microsporum canis) and Malassezia pachydermatis — the two most clinically significant fungal pathogens in canine and feline skin disease
- High skin penetration and retention — Luliconazole accumulates in the stratum corneum and keratinised skin layers, maintaining therapeutic antifungal concentrations after application
Therapeutic Class
- Veterinary topical next-generation imidazole antifungal prescription cream for dogs and cats — ringworm (dermatophytosis), Malassezia, and superficial fungal skin infection treatment
Indications
- Dermatophytosis (ringworm) — caused by Trichophyton mentagrophytes, Trichophyton rubrum, and Microsporum canis in dogs and cats
- Malassezia pachydermatis (yeast) superficial skin infection in dogs and cats
- Superficial fungal skin infections of the skin and skin folds in dogs and cats
- Skin fold dermatitis (intertrigo) with fungal involvement — facial, vulvar, tail, and body folds
- Interdigital pododermatitis with fungal component
Directions for Use
- Clean and dry the affected area thoroughly before application; clip hair over the lesion and a 2cm margin if needed to allow direct cream contact with the skin surface
- Apply a thin layer of cream to the affected area and 1–2cm beyond the visible lesion margin, as directed by a veterinarian
- Frequency: typically once daily — confirm from label or prescription; Luliconazole's high skin retention allows once-daily dosing in most cases
- Use Elizabethan collar to prevent licking until cream is fully absorbed
- Continue for full prescribed duration even if lesions appear resolved — dermatophyte lesions require extended treatment to prevent recurrence
- Wash hands thoroughly after application
Safety Information
- Prescription medicine — for veterinary use only; apply under licensed veterinary supervision with confirmed fungal diagnosis
- Zoonotic risk — Microsporum canis and Trichophyton spp. (ringworm) are zoonotic; handlers should wear gloves when treating ringworm lesions and consult a physician if they develop skin lesions during treatment of an infected animal
- Do not use on or near eyes, ears, or mucous membranes
- Discontinue if localised irritation, redness, or allergic reaction at the application site occurs; consult a veterinarian
- Keep out of reach of children; store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; keep tube tightly closed after use
