Oriheal Veteroderm-KC Ketoconazole & Chlorhexidine Medicated Antifungal & Antibacterial Shampoo for Dogs & Cats (200ml)
Oriheal Veteroderm-KC is a veterinary medicated shampoo combining Ketoconazole (imidazole antifungal) and Chlorhexidine Gluconate (broad-spectrum antiseptic and antibacterial), manufactured by Oriheal Lifesciences. Veteroderm-KC is indicated for the topical management of fungal skin infections (ringworm, dermatophytosis, Malassezia overgrowth), bacterial skin infections (pyoderma), seborrhoea, and mixed fungal-bacterial dermatoses in dogs and cats.
Composition (to be confirmed from product label)
-
Ketoconazole — concentration % (confirm from label) — imidazole antifungal
-
Chlorhexidine Gluconate — concentration % (confirm from label) — broad-spectrum antiseptic and antibacterial
- Suitable shampoo base with conditioners — q.s. to 200ml
Mechanism of Action
-
Ketoconazole: Inhibits fungal cytochrome P450-dependent lanosterol 14-alpha-demethylase — blocks ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, causing cell membrane disruption and fungal cell death; effective against dermatophytes (Microsporum, Trichophyton) and Malassezia pachydermatis
-
Chlorhexidine Gluconate: Disrupts bacterial cell membrane integrity by binding to negatively charged bacterial cell wall components — broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria; residual activity on skin surface after rinsing
Therapeutic Class
- Veterinary medicated topical antifungal and antibacterial shampoo — for fungal, bacterial, and mixed skin infections in dogs and cats
Key Benefits
- Dual antifungal (Ketoconazole) + antibacterial (Chlorhexidine) action in a single medicated shampoo
- Effective against dermatophytes causing ringworm and dermatophytosis
- Controls Malassezia pachydermatis overgrowth — a common cause of otitis externa and seborrhoeic dermatitis in dogs
- Chlorhexidine provides residual antibacterial activity on skin surface between washes
- Addresses mixed fungal-bacterial dermatoses in a single topical treatment
- Helps manage seborrhoea and reduce skin odour associated with bacterial and fungal overgrowth
Indications
- Ringworm and dermatophytosis (Microsporum canis, Trichophyton spp.) in dogs and cats
- Malassezia-associated seborrhoeic dermatitis and skin fold dermatitis in dogs
- Bacterial pyoderma and surface bacterial skin infections
- Mixed fungal and bacterial skin infections and dermatoses
- Seborrhoea (oily or dry seborrhoeic skin conditions) in dogs and cats
Directions for Use
- Wet the coat thoroughly with lukewarm water
- Apply Veteroderm-KC shampoo and lather evenly over the affected areas and surrounding skin
- Leave on for 5–10 minutes (contact time) for optimal antifungal and antibacterial effect
- Rinse thoroughly with clean water
- Frequency and duration of use as directed by the veterinarian — typically 2–3 times per week during active infection, reducing to weekly maintenance
Safety Information
