OriHeal Pimotone Plus-5 Pimobendan & Benazepril Easy Chews Cardiac Tablet for Dogs & Cats (Pack of 10)
OriHeal Pimotone Plus-5 is a veterinary prescription cardiac tablet combining Pimobendan (positive inotrope and vasodilator) with Benazepril (ACE inhibitor), manufactured by OriHeal. The easy chews tablet format enhances palatability and compliance. Pimotone Plus-5 is indicated for the management of congestive heart failure (CHF), dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM), and mitral valve disease in dogs and cats under veterinary prescription.
Composition (per tablet)
-
Pimobendan (positive inotrope and vasodilator — improves cardiac contractility and reduces cardiac workload)
-
Benazepril (ACE inhibitor — reduces afterload and preload; slows progression of cardiac disease)
- Note: Confirm exact mg strengths per tablet from the product label and update accordingly.
Mechanism of Action
- Pimobendan: calcium sensitiser and phosphodiesterase III inhibitor — increases myocardial contractility without increasing oxygen demand; causes vasodilation reducing cardiac preload and afterload
- Benazepril: ACE inhibitor — blocks angiotensin-converting enzyme, reducing angiotensin II-mediated vasoconstriction and aldosterone-driven fluid retention; slows cardiac remodelling and disease progression
Therapeutic Class
- Veterinary cardiac prescription tablet — positive inotrope (Pimobendan) + ACE inhibitor (Benazepril) combination for congestive heart failure management in dogs and cats
Key Benefits
- Dual cardiac action — improves cardiac contractility (Pimobendan) and reduces cardiac workload and vascular resistance (Benazepril)
- Slows progression of cardiac disease and delays onset of clinical heart failure signs
- Reduces fluid accumulation and symptoms of congestive heart failure
- Easy chews tablet format — palatable, easy to administer directly or with food
Indications
- Congestive heart failure (CHF) in dogs and cats
- Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) in dogs
- Mitral valve disease (MVD) / myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD) in dogs
- Cardiac disease management as determined by the attending veterinarian
Directions for Use
- Administer orally as directed by a licensed veterinarian
- Pimobendan should ideally be given approximately 1 hour before feeding for optimal absorption
- Dosage, frequency, and duration determined by the prescribing veterinarian based on species, body weight, cardiac diagnosis, and clinical response
Safety Information
- Prescription medicine — for veterinary use only; administer under licensed veterinary supervision
- Do not use without a valid veterinary prescription and confirmed cardiac diagnosis
- Use with caution in animals with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM) or conditions where increased cardiac output is contraindicated
- Monitor renal function during Benazepril therapy, particularly in animals with pre-existing renal impairment
- Do not use concurrently with other ACE inhibitors or drugs that may cause hypotension without veterinary guidance
- Keep out of reach of children; store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight
