Drools Telpet is a veterinary prescription oral suspension containing Telmisartan, a selective Angiotensin II Type 1 (AT1) receptor blocker (ARB), formulated for the management of systemic hypertension and chronic kidney disease (CKD)-associated proteinuria in dogs and cats. Telmisartan is the ARB of choice in feline veterinary medicine, licensed for reduction of proteinuria in cats with chronic kidney disease (IRIS CKD Stages 1–4). Also indicated for systemic hypertension in both dogs and cats. The oral suspension format (30ml bottle) enables accurate weight-based dosing, making it suitable for cats and small dogs where tablet dosing precision is limited.

Mechanism of Action
- Telmisartan selectively blocks Angiotensin II Type 1 (AT1) receptors, preventing Angiotensin II from binding and activating the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS)
- AT1 blockade causes vasodilation, reduces systemic vascular resistance, and lowers systemic blood pressure
- Reduces intraglomerular pressure and proteinuria in CKD by blocking Angiotensin II-mediated efferent arteriolar vasoconstriction in the glomerulus — the primary mechanism for its renoprotective effect in feline CKD
- Unlike ACE inhibitors, ARBs block AT1 receptors directly without affecting bradykinin — lower risk of cough or bradykinin-mediated side effects

Directions for Use
- Shake well before each use
- Administer orally as directed by a licensed veterinarian — typically once daily; confirm dose and frequency from prescription
- Typical veterinary dose: cats — 1.5 mg/kg PO once daily (CKD/hypertension); dogs — 0.5–1 mg/kg PO once daily; confirm exact dose from veterinary prescription
- Use the supplied dosing syringe for accurate measurement; do not estimate dose
- Can be administered directly into the mouth or mixed with a small amount of food

Safety Information
