Oriheal Petsucra Plus is a veterinary oral suspension combining Sucralfate (1g/5ml) and Oxetacaine (20mg/5ml), manufactured by Oriheal Lifesciences. Sucralfate is a mucosal protectant that forms a physical barrier over ulcerated gastric and duodenal mucosa, while Oxetacaine is a topical local anaesthetic that provides rapid relief from GI pain and burning discomfort. Petsucra Plus is indicated for the management of gastric and duodenal ulcers, oesophagitis, NSAID-induced mucosal damage, stress-induced ulcers, and acid-related GI discomfort in dogs and cats.

Composition (per 5ml)

• Sucralfate — 1g (1000mg) — mucosal protectant / cytoprotective agent
• Oxetacaine — 20mg — topical local anaesthetic (amide-type)

Mechanism of Action

• Sucralfate (mucosal protectant): In acidic gastric environment, sucralfate polymerises and binds electrostatically to positively charged proteins at ulcer sites — forms a viscous, paste-like protective barrier over ulcerated mucosa; barrier resists acid, pepsin, and bile; stimulates local prostaglandin synthesis and mucus/bicarbonate secretion to enhance mucosal defence
• Oxetacaine (topical local anaesthetic): Blocks sodium channels at sensory nerve endings in the gastric and oesophageal mucosa — rapidly reduces pain, burning, and discomfort associated with mucosal ulceration and acid reflux; provides symptomatic relief while sucralfate promotes healing

Directions for Use

• Administer orally as directed by a licensed veterinarian
• Shake well before use
• Administer on an empty stomach (30–60 minutes before feeding) for optimal sucralfate efficacy — sucralfate requires an acidic environment to polymerise and bind to ulcer sites
• Do not administer simultaneously with other oral medications — sucralfate may reduce absorption of fluoroquinolones, tetracyclines, and other drugs; separate administration by at least 2 hours

• Drug interaction — separate from other oral medications by at least 2 hours: Sucralfate binds to fluoroquinolones (enrofloxacin, marbofloxacin), tetracyclines, digoxin, and other drugs — reduces their GI absorption if given simultaneously
• Generally well tolerated; constipation is an occasional adverse effect of sucralfate
