For cleaning the outer ear canal only — external veterinary use. Do not use if the eardrum may be perforated, or if your pet has had ear surgery: flushing fluid into a ruptured eardrum can cause deafness and balance problems. If you have not had the ears examined, or if there is any sign of head tilt, loss of balance, circling, or sudden deafness, see a veterinarian before putting anything into the ear. Do not let the nozzle touch the ear canal, and never push cotton buds down into the canal — they pack debris deeper and can damage the eardrum. Stop use and seek veterinary advice if the ear is painful to touch, hot, badly swollen, bleeding, discharging pus, or if your pet cries out. This is a cleanser, not a treatment: it will not cure an ear infection and it will not kill ear mites. Dark, crumbly, coffee-ground debris usually means mites, and both mites and infections need medication prescribed after your veterinarian examines the ear and often looks at a sample under the microscope. Avoid contact with the eyes. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
Otican is a gentle ear cleansing solution for dogs and cats, formulated with salicylic acid, Tris-EDTA buffer, and organic aloe, and used to lift wax, dirt, and debris out of the outer ear canal as part of routine ear care. Ears are one of the easiest things to neglect and one of the most expensive to fix: a warm, humid canal that is never cleaned is exactly where yeast and bacteria settle in, which is why floppy-eared breeds, dogs that swim, and pets with allergies end up at the vet again and again. Regular cleaning keeps the canal clear and lets you spot a problem early, while it is still a smell rather than a painful infection. Supplied in a 100ml bottle.
