Mechanism of Action

• Medetomidine and dexmedetomidine sedate by stimulating alpha-2 adrenergic receptors, suppressing noradrenaline release and producing sedation, muscle relaxation, and analgesia, along with their characteristic cardiovascular effects of bradycardia, vasoconstriction, and reduced cardiac output.
