PRESCRIPTION VETERINARY MEDICINE — For veterinary use only. Must be prescribed and dispensed by or under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian. ISOXAZOLINE-CLASS PRODUCTS HAVE BEEN ASSOCIATED WITH NEUROLOGICAL ADVERSE EVENTS IN SOME DOGS INCLUDING TREMORS, ATAXIA, AND SEIZURES — use with caution in dogs with a history of neurological disorders including epilepsy. Do not use in dogs under 6 months of age. Do not use in dogs under 2kg body weight. Safety in breeding, pregnant, or lactating dogs has not been fully established — confirm with veterinarian before use. Keep out of reach of children. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Alembic Lanerwin Fluralaner Dog Tick & Flea Control Tablet (4.5–10kg | 10–20kg | 20–40kg)

Alembic Lanerwin is a prescription veterinary isoxazoline-class oral ectoparasiticide tablet for dogs, containing Fluralaner — a systemic ectoparasiticide that provides fast-acting and long-lasting protection against ticks, fleas, and mites for up to 12 weeks per tablet. Fluralaner is absorbed systemically after oral administration and kills ticks and fleas through contact when they feed on treated dogs, eliminating the need for topical spot-on application. Available in three weight-banded strengths for accurate dosing across small, medium, and large breed dogs. Administer strictly as directed by a licensed veterinarian.

Active Ingredient

  • Fluralaner — 112.5mg (4.5–10kg) / 250mg (10–20kg) / 500mg (20–40kg) per tablet (confirm exact Fluralaner content from Alembic Lanerwin product label): Isoxazoline-class systemic ectoparasiticide; mechanism of action — potent inhibitor of GABA-gated chloride ion channels (GABA-Cl channels) and glutamate-gated chloride ion channels (GluCl channels) in arthropod nerve and muscle cells; Fluralaner blocks chloride ion influx through these ligand-gated channels in ticks and fleas by binding to allosteric sites distinct from those of organochlorine compounds, preventing GABA-mediated and glutamate-mediated neuroinhibition; channel blockade causes sustained neuronal and neuromuscular excitation in ectoparasites, resulting in uncontrolled tremor, paralysis, and death; mammalian safety margin is attributable to the low permeability of the mammalian blood-brain barrier (BBB) to Fluralaner at therapeutic doses and the lower sensitivity of mammalian GABA-Cl channels to Fluralaner; CRITICAL: the BBB protective mechanism is susceptible to disruption in dogs with MDR1/ABCB1 gene mutation (herding breeds) and in dogs with conditions that compromise BBB integrity — use with caution in these dogs; systemic activity following oral absorption means Fluralaner is present in the blood of treated dogs and kills ectoparasites when they feed — this systemic route of action is highly effective and ensures complete body coverage without the limitations of topical products
  • Tablet excipients (may contain flavouring agents to improve palatability) — confirm from Alembic Lanerwin product label

Therapeutic Class

  • Prescription veterinary isoxazoline-class systemic oral ectoparasiticide tablet for dogs — tick control, flea control, mite control, 12-week extended-duration protection

Spectrum of Activity

  • Ticks: Rhipicephalus sanguineus (brown dog tick — primary vector of Ehrlichia canis/tick fever in India), Haemaphysalis punctata, Ixodes ricinus, Ixodes scapularis (vector of Lyme disease/borreliosis), Amblyomma americanum, Dermacentor variabilis; confirm tick species coverage for India from Alembic Lanerwin product label — Fluralaner has broad tick spectrum activity
  • Fleas: Ctenocephalides felis (cat flea — the predominant flea species infesting dogs in India and globally); Ctenocephalides canis (dog flea); kills existing adult fleas rapidly (within hours of first dose) and prevents reinfestation for up to 12 weeks; breaks flea life cycle by killing adult fleas before egg-laying
  • Mites: Demodex canis (demodicosis — demodectic mange), Sarcoptes scabiei var. canis (sarcoptic mange/scabies), Otodectes cynotis (ear mites); confirm mite species coverage from product label

Duration of Protection

  • Single oral tablet provides up to 12 weeks (3 months) of systemic tick and flea control; administer every 12 weeks for continuous year-round protection
  • Tick-killing activity begins within hours of administration; flea-killing activity begins within 2 hours of administration in dogs with existing infestations
  • Systemic blood-level activity ensures complete body coverage, including areas inaccessible to topical applications (between toes, inside ears, under collar)

Weight-Banded Dosing

  • 4.5–10kg — ₹990.00: Small breed dogs — confirm Fluralaner content per tablet from product label
  • 10–20kg — ₹1,400.00: Medium breed dogs — confirm Fluralaner content per tablet from product label
  • 20–40kg — ₹1,780.00: Large breed dogs — confirm Fluralaner content per tablet from product label
  • For dogs over 40kg: combine appropriate weight-band tablets as directed by veterinarian
  • Administer orally with food or immediately after feeding to maximise absorption and reduce risk of vomiting

Contraindications

  • Do not use in dogs under 6 months of age — safety in puppies under 6 months has not been established
  • Do not use in dogs under 2kg body weight
  • Use with caution in dogs with a history of neurological disorders including epilepsy or seizures — isoxazoline-class products (Fluralaner, Afoxolaner, Sarolaner, Lotilaner) have been associated with neurological adverse events including tremors, ataxia, and seizures in some dogs, particularly those with pre-existing neurological conditions; the causal relationship is not fully established but the FDA (US) and regulatory authorities have issued safety communications; discuss risk-benefit with veterinarian before use in neurologically predisposed dogs
  • Use with caution in MDR1/ABCB1 mutation-positive herding breeds (Collie, Sheltie, Australian Shepherd, Border Collie) — P-glycoprotein deficiency may increase CNS Fluralaner exposure; confirm safety in individual dogs with known MDR1 mutation status
  • Safety in breeding, pregnant, and lactating dogs has not been fully established — confirm with veterinarian before use

Drug Interactions

  • No significant pharmacokinetic drug interactions established for Fluralaner at recommended therapeutic doses; confirm with veterinarian if the dog is receiving any concurrent medications
  • Do not use concurrently with other isoxazoline-class ectoparasiticides

Advantages Over Topical Ectoparasiticides

  • No risk of accidental removal by bathing, swimming, or grooming — systemic oral activity is unaffected by water exposure
  • No risk of topical application site reactions, hair loss, or greasy coat
  • No risk of transfer to children or other household pets through physical contact with the treated dog
  • Accurate weight-based dosing eliminates variable absorption associated with topical spot-on products
  • 12-week protection interval is longer than most monthly topical products, reducing administration frequency

Safety Information

  • Prescription veterinary medicine — must be prescribed and dispensed by or under the supervision of a licensed veterinarian
  • Monitor treated dogs for signs of neurological adverse effects for several hours after first administration — tremors, ataxia (incoordination), seizures; contact a veterinarian immediately if any neurological signs are observed
  • Tick and flea control as part of an integrated parasite management programme — treat the dog's environment (bedding, home, yard) alongside ectoparasiticide therapy to break the environmental flea lifecycle; up to 95% of flea lifecycle stages (eggs, larvae, pupae) exist in the environment, not on the dog
  • Tick attachment and tick-transmitted disease risk: Fluralaner kills ticks rapidly but does not provide a repellent effect — ticks may briefly attach before being killed; check dogs for attached ticks after walks in tick-endemic areas; Ehrlichia canis (tick fever) transmission requires prolonged tick attachment; rapid tick-killing by Fluralaner significantly reduces disease transmission risk
  • Not for use in cats — Fluralaner dog tablets are formulated and dosed for dogs only; there are separate veterinary Fluralaner formulations for cats — do not administer dog tablets to cats
  • Not for human use — keep out of reach of children
  • Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; keep in original packaging
