Product details

  • Product name: ORIHEAL Palacef‑Vet (sometimes “PalaCef‑Vet”)
  • Manufacturer / Marketer: OriHeal Life Sciences Pvt. Ltd.
  • Formulation: Palatable film‑coated tablets (flavored for easier administration in pets)
  • Strengths: 300 mg and 600 mg cephalexin per tablet

🧪 Composition & Mechanism
  • Active ingredient: Cephalexin monohydrate (equivalent to anhydrous cephalexin) IP
  • Excipients: Film coating, flavoring agents (to make it palatable to dogs & cats)
  • Class / Action: First‑generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, thereby killing or stopping the growth of susceptible bacteria.

✅ Indications / Uses
ORIHEAL Palacef‑Vet is used in veterinary medicine (dogs & cats) for infections caused by bacteria sensitive to cephalexin. Some of its common indications include:
  • Skin infections (e.g. pyoderma)
  • Wound / soft tissue infections
  • Bone infections
  • Urinary tract (bladder) infections
  • Respiratory tract infections (if the pathogens are susceptible)
  • Post‑surgical prophylaxis to prevent bacterial infection after surgery

🧾 Dosage & Administration
  • Typical dose: 22–30 mg per kg body weight, given orally every 8 to 12 hours (i.e. 2‑3 times a day) for both dogs and cats
  • Actual dose, frequency, and duration will depend on the animal’s species, weight, severity of infection, and susceptibility of the bacterial strain — your vet’s advice is essential.

⚠ Contraindications, Warnings & Side Effects
  • Hypersensitivity / Allergy: Animals allergic to penicillins or cephalosporin antibiotics should avoid use (cross sensitivity risk)
  • Gastrointestinal effects: Some pets may show GI upset (vomiting, diarrhea) as side effects
  • Use in special populations: Safety in pregnant, lactating, or very young animals is not well established — use only under veterinary supervision
  • Other precautions:
    • Do not use in species for which it is not intended (e.g. rodents, lagomorphs for oral route)
    • Ensure correct dose — overdose may increase adverse effects
