Product details

  • Each Milpro tablet (for cats) contains:
     • Milbemycin oxime 16 mg 
     • Praziquantel 40 mg 
  • Tablets are film-coated, flavored (meat / liver flavor) to enhance palatability for cats.
  • Tablets are scored (can be divided into halves) to allow dosing flexibility. 

Indications / Uses
Milpro is indicated in cats for:
  • Treatment and control of intestinal nematodes (roundworms, e.g. Toxocara cati, Toxascaris leonina)
  • Treatment and control of cestodes (tapeworms), e.g. Dipylidium caninum, Taenia spp., Echinococcus spp. 
  • Prevention of heartworm disease (when used monthly and when treatment against tapeworms is also required) in cats (i.e. as a combined wormer) 
In short: it is a broad-spectrum dewormer for common intestinal worms plus has preventative potential for heartworm when appropriately used.

Dosage & Administration
  • Route: Oral (by mouth) With or after food: The tablet should be given with or just after a meal to aid absorption.
  • Dose rate: Minimum recommended dose is 2 mg milbemycin oxime and 5 mg praziquantel per kg body weight in a single dose. 
  • Practical dosing (based on cat weight) 
Cat Weight Tablet Dosage
0.5 – 1.0 kg (kittens) ½ tablet of small‑cat version
1.0 – 2.0 kg 1 tablet of kitten / small cat version 
2.0 – 4.0 kg ½ tablet (of the standard cat version) 
4.0 – 8.0 kg 1 tablet 
> 8.0 – 12 kg 1½ tablets (if weight justifies) 
  • Note: The tablet can be split if needed (scored) to adjust dose for intermediate weights.
  • Frequency:
     • For routine deworming in adult cats: every ~3 months (quarterly) is often recommended. 
     • For kittens: at ages 6, 8, 10, 12 weeks, then monthly until 6 months of age. 
     • For heartworm prevention: monthly if used as combined therapy. 

Warnings, Contraindications & Side Effects
  • Minimum age / weight: Do not use in kittens younger than 6 weeks or weighing less than 0.5 kg.
  • Hypersensitivity: Do not use in cats with known hypersensitivity to milbemycin, praziquantel or any excipients. 
  • Debilitated / organ‑compromised animals: Use caution or only under veterinary risk/benefit assessment in cats with impaired kidney or liver disease.
  • Overdose / Adverse reactions:
     • In rare cases, especially in young cats, neurological signs (tremors, ataxia), lethargy, gastrointestinal signs (vomiting, diarrhoea) may appear at excessive doses. 
     • Symptoms usually transient and resolve within a day in reported overdoses. 
  • Zoonotic caution: Some tapeworm species (e.g. Echinococcus) are zoonotic; if present, take precautions to prevent transmission to humans and follow veterinary guidelines. 
  • Concurrent macrocyclic lactones: Avoid use simultaneously with other macrocyclic lactone antiparasitics (unless veterinary advice) because of possible interaction / additive effects.
  • Storage: Store at or below ~30 °C in original packaging. Once the blister is opened, the tablet halves (if cut) may remain usable for up to 6 months in the original package.
