Composition & Mechanism
Each tablet contains:
Active Ingredient Strength Action / Role
Ofloxacin 200 mg A fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Works by inhibiting bacterial DNA gyrase/topoisomerase, preventing bacteria from replicating or repairing their DNA. Useful especially for aerobic, Gram-positive, Gram-negative bacteria. 
Ornidazole 500 mg A nitroimidazole class drug effective against anaerobic bacteria and certain protozoa. It interferes with DNA in susceptible organisms, leading to death of anaerobic pathogens. 
Excipients / Others q.s. (as needed) To form the tablet matrix and facilitate absorption. 
The combination aims to cover both aerobic & anaerobic bacteria, as well as protozoal infections, especially in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. 

Indications / Uses
Corise Diarest O2 is indicated in dogs for:
  • Mixed gastrointestinal infections (i.e. where both aerobic and anaerobic microbes may be present.
  • Diarrhea (loose stool) with suspected bacterial / protozoal origin 
  • Bacterial & protozoal infections in GI tract (involving susceptible organisms) 

Dosage & Administration
  • The standard recommendation (in some sources) is for dogs up to 20 kg: 1 tablet, twice a day (BID).
  • However, actual dosage should always be decided by a veterinarian based on weight, severity of disease, and other health parameters.
  • Administer orally, with food (if possible) to reduce GI upset.
  • Duration of therapy depends on the response and the specific diagnosis; never discontinue prematurely without veterinary advice.
